No Ifs, Ands or Putts
No Ifs, Ands or Putts
Decided to get your workout on the golf course instead of at the gym? Read on to learn how this local boutique takes "golf chic" beyond the plaids and argyles of yesteryear.
The word "golf" might conjure up visions of old white men wearing pastels and drinking Scotch — or maybe due to his recent domestic dispute, your thoughts of golf might wander to Tiger Woods getting caught red-handed in a salacious scandal. But with either image, there is one thing missing — female golfers! Golf-Chic Boutique Owner Beth Underhill is here to let all you ladies know that golf is NOT just a man's sport, and it could be your new passion.
Launched in 2007, offering only golf accessories, the Golf-Chic Boutique Web site "started as a result of my love for golf," Underhill says. And while Golf-Chic is still mainly a web-based operation, they went brick and mortar in spring 2008. (Check out the boutique located at 5055 Wooster Road.) At the same time, Golf-Chic expanded their inventory to include apparel, more accessories and even personal putting greens!
As a rule, golf attire stereotypically has been an unflattering combination of plaid pants, sweater vests and flat caps. But these rules no longer apply, and what you wear on the greens can be just as fun and fashionable as what you would wear on a day-to-day basis. "Golf dresses are very popular recently, not only for playing golf, but you can wear them out running around or for a casual lunch," Underhill says. Check out this mod print shift dress that easily could transition from the golf course to shopping or cocktails!
With your new golf ensemble in place, you'll be ready for 18 holes, but don't forget the icing on the cake — Golf-Chic intimates! With sassy sayings like "Kiss my Putt" and "Tees Me" spelled out on the garments in sparkling rhinestones, these Golf-Chic Boutique exclusives will have your derriere feeling just as sporty as the rest of you! Inspired by decorating bras for Cincy Chic's Bras with Flair on the Square event, Underhill says these foundation garments that Golf-Chic calls "Divot Dainties," will put a twinkle in your eye and on your underpants!
With female athletes having a more prominent role in golf through the popularity of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, Underhill has found that more local women are getting involved and hitting the greens in recent years. And while looking good isn't the point of the game, it doesn't hurt!
